KAM Capture

KAM Capture is a screen capture program.
I wanted a simple capture program instead of using the commercially available ones the corporations made me use.
Over time it got a little more involved, due to requests from other people, and is not as simple as I originally wanted.
It is still evolving and is not completed.  A .NET application using 2.0 and higher framework for XP, Vista and Windows 7.

KAM Capture

This is the main screen.  The captures are child windows placed in this window.

To Clipboard copies the current screen capture image to the clipboard for pasting in other applications.  You have the choice of a 24 bit image or an 8 bit image.  Using the 24 bit selection for photo type images and 8 bit for simple and text type images.  I put this option here because in business we are usually emailing screen captures to each other managing to stuff email boxes with bloated emails with megabyte images.  Choosing the 8 bit option makes these images much smaller.

The same holds true for the Save PNG option.  Save JPG is always 24 bit as that is set for JPG images.

The Tools menu is the most extensive.
Crop allows you to do a non-destructive crop of a captured image.  That is the cropped area is turned into another image leaving the original image untouched.  Oval allows you to draw an oval outline using the current selected color.  Rectangle allows you to draw an oval outline using the current selected color.  Line allows you to draw a point to point line by dragging the mouse using the current selected color.  Text allows you to enter text at the point of the click.

Enter the text in the text box, choose the font to use, size of font, color of font and style.
Which ever color has the check on the left is the color used in drawing lines, ovals and rectangles.
The drop down box with numbers in it is the width of the line, in pixels, that is used for drawing.

There are two capture modes.  Full screen and Area.

If you select Capture Area the screen will go a little dull, which is done so you can see the lines, and cross hairs are displayed.  When you hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse you start drawing a rectangle that will represent the area to be captured.  Releasing the mouse captures the area.

When you select Capture Screen you have to choose which screen to capture.  If you only have one monitor/screen then you only have one selection.  If you have multiple monitors it gives you a choice of monitor to capture or all the monitors.

F12 is the key you press to start the capture after selecting the mode of capture in both Screen Capture or Area Capture.  It works best if you run the capture program right before you want to capture the screen or area.  It has a better chance of capturing the F12 key that way.
