Spam-O-MaticOf all the programs I have written for myself I use this one the
most. Every day I am on the Internet and I want to check email.
This is also useful if you have a slow connection as you are not
wasting you time downloading all that junk just to delete it.
The original version was a COM program. The current version was
written with
.NET 4.0 and requires .NET framework 4.0, or newer, be installed to
use. This version 3.x series has been re-written and made
smaller and faster than the previous versions. This application is for XP, Vista and Windows 7.
This is what it looks like. To use it you need to set the connection options so you can connect to your email server.
Click on settings and this dialog box is displayed. Enter the appropriate information. If you do not know what these settings are you probably should not be using this program. After you have the settings saved you click on the Login menu item, or the Retrieve menu item, to retrieve a list of all current emails. This displays the sender's email address, subject line, date and size. It does not, at this point, download the emails. This program never saves an email to your computer Except if you choose to view the email as "HTML in Browser". In this case the browser caches the email thus it is more dangerous. The difference between Login and Retrieve is that when you choose Login it will start the timer, if you set the timer value in the Settings dialog box. Then it will check on your email at the interval you have set.
You will also see a list of the commands displayed in the bottom of the screen:
You can view the content of any email by clicking on it, to
hi-light the entry, then click on Content in the menu bar.
If you want to delete any emails from the server just click on
them, to hi-light the entries, then click on Delete in the menu bar. If you see a suspicious email and want to attempt to trace it back to it's true origins then click on it and click on the Headers menu option.
This will display the header record of the
message. You can attempt to find out where the ip addresses are
from
This will display, if found, information on the IP address. You can also filter out unwanted email (SPAM). By clicking on the Spam Control button. Before doing that you can select one or more email entries being displayed on the main screen and the addresses and subjects will be imported to this screen to be used in the filter section.
Any addresses or subject lines imported from the main screen will be in the lower list boxes. Just hi-light the ones you want to use as a filter and click the Add^ button to place them in the filter lists. If you want to enter them manually do so in the text boxes and click the Add button for the text box. The application deletes any emails that have the address or subject matter listed in the filter boxes contained in them. As an example: If you have the word "test" in the subject filter and you get a message that says " we are testing this" that email will be deleted. You can also compose then send emails by clicking on Compose on the main screen. The rest of the functionality I will leave for you to figure out. Here is the link to a CAB file. This version series is much simpler that the previous and only has two files. It does not need "Installed" Just copy the files to a folder of your choice and run it. Click here to download. The current version is 3.1.00 |
